An intermediate plan designed for people who want the assurance of knowing they have a solid mix of health care benefits, but do not require dental benefits. Some of the benefits this plan includes are:

  • Ambulance/hospital
  • Prescription drugs
  • Private duty nursing
  • Foot care
  • Physiotherapy
  • Occupational therapy
  • Athletic therapy
  • Travel health coverage
  • Cardiac rehabilitation
  • Psychological counselling
  • Accidental dental
  • Orthopedic shoe

Eligibility

  • Available to all residents of Manitoba covered by Manitoba Health.
  • No age limit.
  • Family coverage includes the applicant, spouse (or common-law spouse) and dependent children (unmarried and unemployed) up to the age of 21.
  • To be eligible, your spouse (or common-law spouse) and eligible dependents must be listed on the application.
  • A minimum cohabitation period of one year is required for a common-law spouse.

When Will My Coverage Become Effective?

Coverage will become effective the first of the month following three months from the date the application is received.

Example:

  • Application received January 12
  • Three months later April 12
  • Coverage effective May 1

Important Information Before You Apply

If applying for the Medi-Blue Plan, you will not be required to complete the medical questionnaire portion of the application.

Coverage will become effective on the first of the month following three months from the date the application is received.

If you are a new resident to Manitoba, or have recently lost benefits with an employer group, please contact our office as enrollment procedures may differ.

Please Note: If you or any dependents are covered for prescription drugs through another insurance company, please provide details on the application.

You can purchase a Blue Cross plan online, in person at our offices, or the general insurance agent in your area.
